My project for my thesis is mainly about looking differently at computer technology and i think this fun inter face by Tom Gerhardt is a nice way to change a persons relationship with technology although a bit simplistic. It gives the user a tactile sense that computers don't really have (yet)

and it's fun too

  1. Hi Kevin
Yes, I like this piece. I guess interfaces will just become more and more sophisticated, (like the Wii interface). The mud interface looks fun, and tactility is an interesting question. It seemed an odd combination of computing with the pleasures of gardening.

  3. Maybe someday people will garden from their desk. With some experimental MULTI-Multi touch interfaces it really does change the computer; I watched an example of a touch-screen that could detect 10 touch points. Although this may sound like overkill at first it meant two people could work on one computer and be able to move and shape things with their fingers naturally.
Also I am after reading about a material called

    eloctronic paper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_paper

which could turn a Kindle (atm an oversized palm-pilot, into a real-life magic book)

Also my girlfriend sent me this nifty little link the other day. Its a website that doesnt use any mouse clicks, really changes your overall sense of the space
